Connection/performance settings for new players

Post by S_hift »

Code: Select all

$pref::PacketFrame = "32";
$pref::PacketRate = "30";
$pref::PacketSize = "500";
$pref::waitForVSync = "False";
Press the Tilde ~ key to bring up the console and paste this code into it and you should be optimized. Not recommended for players still using dial up or bad cable.

Another option is to locate your "autoexec.cs" file in your config folder, and add these lines in it using a text pad.

Edit: someone sticky this plz :D

Bump... If we bump it once a week, it'll stick to the top. :)

Now that I think about it, those settings may seem extremely high.
The default settings for ISDN were only 15, 300 and T1 were 15, 400.
But then again these were recommended for speeds available in 1998. Over the years, high speed internet has more than quadrupled from the high being 5-10Mb to the current 20-150Mbps. So with current speeds, those numbers look very logical.

It was discussed that these settings can also trigger server lag if done incorrectly or if it doesn't match the server settings. How will this affect servers that run with the factory settings that haven't made considerations by adjusting to current speeds?

Right, and on BR server it's set to 500x30.

This is why.

Also might I add that Slawdogs Island uses these settings as well.
